Recovering from Abuse During
Adulthood Abuse can be
physical, mental, or sexual. If you were ever involved in a relationship
with a person with an addiction to alcohol or other drugs, you have probably
been abused, even if you are not now aware of the scope of the abuse.
Abuse can take place in
the workplace for both women and men.
One kind of abuse that is often overlooked
is neglect. This is may occur when your partner
regularly abandons you to be with other people. Your needs are placed as the last priority in
family plans and finances. Neglect is often subtle but becomes more
and more obvious when your relationships are discussed with a trained therapist.
The abuse may have taken place long ago or
may be occurring in the present. The results are usually poor self-image,
low self-confidence, depression, lack of energy, or anger. These symptoms
are
particularly well suited to being healed using recently discovered methods of
treatment.
